Coming Attractions: March 2012

March 6, 2012

God, It’s been a long time since I’ve done one of these. For March, the theme running through the movies is Romantic Comedies!

We start off with What’s Your Number, a movie so uninteresting that I couldn’t even mock the trailer for it, followed by The Ugly Truth, a movie so bad that it physically hurts. We finish up with a rom-com done right, Coming to America.

On the video game front, we have SimCity Societies and Total Extreme Wrestling 2005.

Coming Attractions: January 2012

January 3, 2012

Since I finished the story missions in L.A. Noire, I feel like a self-imposed challenge.

I’ve got it! Sci-Fi Original Movies!

Since no sane man would pay real money to buy a copy of a Sci-Fi original movie, I’m just going to be watching these as they come on.

Early Thursday: Boa vs. Python

January 14: Pumpkinhead: Blood Feud

January 18: Haunted Prison

January 23: Carny

Plus: Whatever games I have that strike my fancy.

I’m doomed, aren’t I?

(Note: Yes, I know they changed their name to SyFy, but it’s so painfully stupid that I can only bear to type it once.)

Coming Attractions: Last Week of December

December 25, 2011

Well, when I said I’d do reviews of whatever games and movies I got for Christmas, I forgot to take into account that my family is awesome at Christmas. So now, I have Fable III, X-Men Origins: Wolverine Uncaged. L.A. Noire, Call of Duty: Black Ops, and Split/Second, plus all three Austin Powers movies to review.

So that’s, what, eight reviews in seven days?

You know what?

Coming Attractions: Late December

December 15, 2011

It feels good getting back into the swing of things after only having two reviews in the past month and a half or so. Without further ado, here’s what’s coming up in the rest of December.

Late this Saturday/Early morning Sunday: The Love Guru, a film that Daniel Tosh realistically joked about not attending the premier for, despite being in the film.

Mid-Week next week: Worms Reloaded, which explores the deeper issues of morality and cost surrounding war. Ha! Just kidding. You blow up worms with other worms.

Christmas Eve: Finally Part 3 of Let’s Play SimCity 4!

After Christmas: Anything I get for Christmas.

Coming Attractions: September

September 8, 2011

September is here, and with it comes a slight loosening of summer’s death grip on Florida (although the last few days of storms probably helped). The air is a little cooler, the winds a little stronger, and there’s something different about the sunlight during the later months that makes everything seem a little more…blue. There seems to be more yellow during the summer. Anyway, here’s what’s up for September. You may notice a common thread running through the movies.

Films: Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Spaceballs, History of the World, Part I.

Games: Tropico 4 (completed), Team Fortress 2, Garry’s Mod,  Champions Online: Free For All.

Also, at least two updates in the SimCity 4 LP, and an obligatory September 11th remembrance.

Coming Attractions: August

July 30, 2011

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in about half a year, it’s that the most important part of reviewing is to not get burned out. So, from here on out, I’m going to be playing more fast and loose with my reviews. And the movie and game reviews are going to be separate more often than not.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle, Training Day, The Fifth Element.

Republic: The Revolution, Farming Simulator 2011, Tycoon City New York, Poker Night at the Inventory, Chrono Trigger.

In addition to all this content, you can expect to see a screenshot Let’s Play of either Civilization 4 or SimCity 4.

Coming Attractions: July

June 25, 2011

This July, I’m going to be all about Back to the Future. I figure I’ll have just celebrated six months by then, so just call it a little anniversary present from me to me.

July 1st: Where better to start this Future fest than the first movie in the series, Back to the Future, side by side with Back to the Future Episode I: It’s About Time.

July 8th: A continuing theme with Back to the Future Part II and Episode II: Get Tannen!

July 15th: We look at Episode III: Citizen Brown as Back to the Future Part III brings the end of the film series. But there are still two weeks left! Where can we possibly go from here?

July 22nd: I’ll tell you where! On the the first season of Back to the Future: The Animated Series! And the Telltale story comes to a climax with Back to the Future Episode IV: Double Visions.

July 29th: We wrap up July with the second season of the animated series, and tie up the loose ends of the time stream with the Telltale finale, Episode V: OUTATIME.
